I feel it's important for me to post more information on how people can stay healthy during this rough economy. Now more than ever governments are poisoning their people in various fashions while attempting to make it harder for people to get good healthy food. There is way more money in keeping people sick than there is in keeping people well. Some of you may be up in arms about the above statements but you don't have to look far to see that they are true. The FDA's support of companies like Monsanto for example. I won't get into all that right now because anyone who can read can find that information on their own.
With the economy failing and jobless rates rising it's important to note that a few things tend to fluctuate with these.
Alcohol consumption typically goes up in a bad economy. Depression and hopelessness are also on the rise during such times. Now Alcohol isn't bad but consuming too much of it is. It is toxic to the liver. The liver is incredibly important to health as it helps remove toxins. So next time your thinkin about going out on a drinking spree try a liver cleanse instead.
http://naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=64D18B21CC571439D07A2D89ABF6B8ACWhen you get down and hopeless go spend time in nature. Plant a garden, watch a sunset. I know that things are bad right now and getting worse but the birds are still eating and people haven't resorted to eating their pets yet as far as I know. Take it from someone who has known what it's like to go hungry, it will all work out as long as you keep a positive attitude and work hard. Be the best at whatever you do because everything you do speaks about you as a person. If someone looks at your work will they see a lazy person who doesn't care or will they see a work of art done as if it was important even though it was just a simple task such as cleaning a bathroom.
If you die trying at least you die well.
So some simple things you can do to cut expenses and stay healthy during this time are as follows.
1. Drink less or no alcohol. If you do drink, make your own. It's not that hard. If enough people ask I will do a post on how to make wine.
2. See if you can cut expenses. See if you can get a cheaper auto insurance for example. You may also want to check to see if you can find a better bank, credit unions are typically better and it might just be time to make that move. Re evaluate cell phone providers, can you downsize your plan? Cancel cable TV, this just waste your time and electric and makes you stupid. In fact you could sell your TV for a few extra bucks.
3. Evaluate your food situation. Eat more stables such as rice and beans. Keep a notepad on the fridge so you can write down just how much you end up throwing out. Then re evaluate the quantities of food your buying. I would guess that Americans typically throw out 1/4 to 1/2 of all the food they buy without eating it. You could save a lot of money by re evaluating your food consumption. Shop local whenever possible this encourages local growers and stimulates local economy. Growing your own food can also be a great idea, just be sure you don't spend too much on creating a garden. Goongoo peas are a high yield easy to grow crop. You can get coffee grounds at your local Starbucks for free, that is free fertilizer. You can also often get free mulch at your local landfill. There are a lot of resources out there for those who look.
4. Reduce the amount of water you use and if you don't need to have a light on keep it off.
I pee outside so i don't have to flush a few liters of water down every time i make water. Pee really helps compost piles. Some use gray water systems to flush their toilets or use composting toilets. I recall I a sign I saw in the bathroom at one commune that said "if it's yellow it's mellow, if its brown flush it down"
5. plan trips so you don't end up wasting gas by going the same direction 3 or 4 different times when you could do it all in one trip. Find ways to conserve fuel. Buy cars that get good millage. Just a heads up, the gas prices are rising and will get worse. We may see $5 a gallon before the end of the year.
6. Plan fun events that are not expensive, such as a bike ride or a walk. Fishing is always a great one cause it can help you save on your food bill also.
7. Talk to friends and neighbors, build community.
8. Avoid shopping at places like wally world or similar stores as they typically ship all the money out of a community.
9. Barter barter barter.
10. Work out and stretch often. It's a great way to deal with the stress and it also helps to keep your body healthy thus reducing medical expenses and lost time at work.
Cheers! Have a happy healthy 2011 even if it's a bad year for us economically. Remember that the most important things in life are God, family, and community/friends.
Money is just a tool, it's possible to live without it.
